Amer's
A restaurant with a reputation for excellent, locally sourced, seasonal food. Amer’s is set in the Jesmond Hotel on the busy stretch that is Osborne Road, Jesmond.
Artisan
Artisan is a sophisticated restaurant situated just outside the centre of Sheffield. Serving some contemporary locally sourced cuisine, Artisan opens for lunch and in the evenings. The entrance also contains a small deli selling takeaway antipasti’s, breads, oils etc.
Avanti
A small, traditional Italian restaurant, Avanti serves up a limited selection of pastas and pizzas. The dishes are done well, and done cheap. Avanti is on the upmarket Brentwood Avenue, in the suburb of Jesmond.
Bar 57
In the small town of Pudsey Bar 56 stands out like a sore thumb, with its lively exterior boasting quiz and champagne evenings a contrast to the more traditional and slightly tired rest of the town.
Black Friars
Black Friars Restaurant is situated behind the Gate complex in Newcastle’ s city centre. The upmarket restaurant serves traditional English cuisine in a medieval style setting. The restaurant does offer medieval banquet style dining for large parties.
Charles' Bistro
Situated in the sleepy town of Thirsk, this little bistro serves quality food in a relaxed, candle lit atmosphere. Serving a good range of lunch’s priced at £5.95 and an even bigger range of evening meals, also reasonably priced. The service was very good with food arriving promptly and friendly staff.
Coffee Bean
A small coffee shop in Great Ayton, serving a selection of ethically sourced coffee and speciality teas. Coffee bean also serves a small selection of paninis, Ciabattas, and quiches, which can be followed by a range of sweets. Some of the menu can be ordered to take away such as soup or cookies.
El Castano
A bright and bubbly tapas bar/restaurant situated on the lively hive that is Osborne Road, Jesmond.
Foulsyke Farmhouse
Foulsyke is a working farm with a farmhouse that is home to a small tearoom. The tearoom serves various hot drinks and speciality teas along with sandwiches and salads and cakes. Foulsyke also sells free-range eggs and some home made preserves.
Leonards Coffee House
Down a quaint cobbled street in the historic City of Durham, Leonards café serves simple very tasty lunches and an array of hot and cold drinks. A great place to take the weight off if you’ve been to Durham for a visit.
Lockwoods Cafe | Restaurant
A modern very chique café restaurant in the centre of Ripon, serving the usual array of hot drinks but with fine dining a pleanty.
Louis
Located in the heart of vibrant suburb, Jesmond, Louis boasts the local reputation of being the finest diner in the NE2 district. Fear of a large bill had often deterred me for frequenting Louis, however I bite the bullet and found quality food can come at affordable prices
Oldfields
A fine example of a high quality English dining. Championing its use of local produce, Oldfields is a high-class eatery in the upmarket Newcastle suburb of Jesmond.
Orgasmic
Orgasmic Café is located in York city centre at a fantastic riverside location. The independent café bar has an exciting and innovative menu offering starters and light dishes such as breads, risottos and nachos, as well as some unusual gourmet pizzas cooked in a visible wood stone oven.
Pani's Cafe
Panni’’s lively café in the centre of Newcastle Upon Tyne. Serving up a wide range of Italian dishes from bruschettas to pastas and typical café beverages.
Piccolino
A large Italian restaurant where the prices defy the classy décor and quality service, with a pizza or pasta dish for around £8. Piccolino is based in the heart of central Leeds, near Greek Street.
Showroom Cinema
Showroom Cinema is contemporary independent cinema showing British and foreign films from a variety of eras. In the entrance to the cinema is a sizable café serving a variety of hot drinks, snacks, mains, salads, pizzas and deserts
The King’s Head
The King’s Head in Newton Under Roseberry is country restaurant to accompany the Hotel. The constantly changing menu reflects the season and availability of local produce. Lunch choices range from snacks and sandwiches to set 3 course menus at only £9.25 per head.
The New Inn
A choice of continental or traditional meals are served in the Restaurant, or if you prefer, the bistro style Pub. The New Inn is on the same site as the Cropton Brewery, and serves a selection of locally brewed ales.

1535, a modern restaurant, serves a variety of dishes and is located in Huddersfield town centre, however, in my opinion, it is quite difficult to find if you are new to the area. In spite of this it was recommended by a local and I can see why.
